Story of 609 - December, 2008
Wow until today I thought I was all alone. Even more interesting some numbers and stories are eerily familiar.
My number is 609. This started happening a few years ago. I woke up the clock was 6:09. I got in my car to go to work. Elton John's song
"country comfort" came on the radio. One of the lyrics was "and the 609 goes roaring" I thought hmm that was the time on the clock. So far
no biggie. I get gas to top off, the number of gallons 6.09. All in the same hour or two.
I was like this is weird. That night coming home picked up some food, my change $6.09. Now ever since that day I was very aware of the
number 609. It recurred so often it scared me and I began "not" looking at the clock. If I wake up in the morning without using the alarm,
the clock will say 609 not 610 608 615 just 609. Its like my body knows exactly when to look. I was kinda freaked out to see others mention
the clock also. When Im driving home from work I autonomously glance down at the clock at always 6:09. And its always always when Im
not even thinking about it. Its like I'm being reminded.
Now, Im on my honeymoon, at this point Im checking flights to make sure they don't say 609 in case it is an omen (you know the drill if your
one of us) My wife wanted to take a helicopter ride. I agreed, as long as the registration
numbers on the helicopter didn't have 609 on it (i said to myself). To make a long story short they walk us out back where they are, there
were two helicopters, one helicopter has 609 as the first three numbers (I have pictures to prove it), I was like this is it, I am not getting on
that, I was then informed it was the other helicopter. Still weird. Even weirder I expected the helicopter have it more than I didn't. I go back
to work. I was checking some math and calculated a value on my calculator. It came out to 609.609. Later that same day, I was checking
another piece of data. It also had 609.609. SAME DAY. Totally unrelated things.
I was watching Seinfeld one night and this time I was actually thinking about how weird the number thing was. As I was thinking about it, the
scene on Seinfeld that was on TV showed the number 609 on an apt door. The hair on my arms stood up. There are numerous examples that
I could list but have simply stopped keeping track. Oh yeah, one more my social security has 609 in it. I've played it in lottery no luck, I don't think
its a lucky number as much as it is a sign. If you have any ideas why I see this recurring number I'd love to hear about it. It has stopped freaking
me out and I have actually learned to just accept it.
Still though I look at the clock and when its 609, I just say "WHY OF COURSE ITIS!" still a little creepy when you're alone. I've actually looked
up and asked "what is it you want me to do?!"
P.S. - Did I mention when the power went out one time in the middle of the day while we were out. I went to reset the clocks, the first one I went
to was flashing 609. The power had been back on for exactly 6 hours and 9 minutes
to when we came back. I know - Yikes.
